Social Studies
As we near the end of your first theme, Myself, Others, & A Caring Community, we have spent the last two weeks exploring friendship, similarities, differences, and family.
Students recognized that all of us are alike and all of us are different in some way however, those differences don’t bar us from becoming friends or functioning in our families. They created venn diagrams and worked with partners to find out how their families were similar and/or different. This was a great tool to get to know one another better.
We also began sharing the wonderful How I Got My Name reports. They have been so enthralled to learn about the names of their classmates. The reports show that parents made great efforts in naming their children and as the saying goes, “We manifest the names we are given.”

Thought for the Month
We are currently preparing students for jobs and technologies that don’t yet exist…in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet.
