READING & CENTERS
This week we have continued our Fairy Tale & Folktale fun in first grade. On Monday, we worked in our theme notebooks, created a Snow White accordion cut and paste booklet, read the story Thank You Brother Brown Bear and Sleeping Beauty, practiced our plurals for our spelling test. On Tuesday, we watched a video segment over the story Hegety Peg by Audrey Wood, made our plural booklets, practiced writing our spelling words, and listened to the story Beauty & the Beast. This Thursday we worked on our signs for Haiti and took our spelling test.

SCIENCE
This Wednesday we went on a field trip with the second grade to the Nature Lakeside Center. We learned so much and even got to go on a nature hike. They got to see and touch all different kinds of animals. What a great experience!

MATH
We have been reviewing all of our math concepts in our theme notebooks and working on grouping numbers together to help our number sense.

We have been continuing to work on our story maps. It has been a challenge working in cooperative groups but we are learning how to work together.

SOCIAL STUDIES
The children have been sharing their book banners and giving the children information about their fairy tale & folktale books. The children love learning about new fairy tale and folktales. They have done an amazing job on these thanks for all your support!!
*SPECIAL TREAT
Mrs. Marquette surprised us with some Fairy Tale magic. She read them the story Straga Nona. They picked a piece of grass and put it into a magic pot. Mrs. Marquette lit a match and the children said a magic spell and blew three kisses. The magic spell was: "Kids of Wonderful Waller & Fantastic Fate in this magic pot make us cookies and make a lot!" Boom. Appeared a chocolate chip cookie and a note that read..."More magic grass cookies by the teacher's computer!" Each child got to eat a chocolate chip cookie. Ask your child about this exciting surprise!
