We had so much fun at the International Festival!! It was great to see all the different continents represented by the different classes from toddlers to 2nd grade. Our first graders did a great job performing their Australian dance which included settlers, prisoners, Australian animals and aborigines.

We started measurement this week. We began by defining, inches, centimeters and yards. Then, discussed the difference between standard and non-standard measurement tools. We had the opportunity to measure several objects in the room and discussed how to round to the closest whole number on the ruler. These first graders catch on soooo quickly!!

In hands-on science we did an experiment to test our theory on surface tension. We tried to see what objects would float using tissue paper. It was a lot of fun to collect the data and report our results!
We used the ipads during computer lab to take pictures of our Australian animals and then used the puppet pal app to share the facts about the animal. We had fun using silly backgrounds and voices. These first graders are becoming pros with puppet pals! Ms. Fate and I were amazed at their abilities on the ipad!!
