Language Arts Block
On Monday, we introduced focused this week on the words ending with -k and -ck and rhyming words. The kiddos caught on very quickly and did an awesome job with completing their tic- tac-toe boards for reading, writing, and word work.
Miss Fate worked with students in groups using their writing words book and our grammar book. They practiced ABC order and word order. In Mrs. Wyllie's group, students read the book Rhyming Dust Bunnies and completed several response activities to go along with the book.

Social Studies
We learned about the different types of communities: city (urban), rural, and suburban. We read about each community in our Social Studies book and came up with different descriptions for each. Then we learned how to compare and contrast the different types of communities using a venn diagram.

Students participated in a science experiment and tried to figure out how to get a paper clip to float using a piece of tissue paper. They discussed scientific terms such as: cohesion, surface tension, and skin.

Students got to try a new program called Kidspiration. They used a venn diagram to compare and contrast cats and dogs. They had to use many different computer skills including typing, clicking and dragging, and printing. Wait until you see them come home today!

At the end of each day, we listened to Pete The Cat and were rockin' in our school shoes... the children LOVE this book and if you ask them to sing and dance for you, they probably will :)

Please remind your students that if they are pre-ordering (either on line or with the packets) they MUST bring back either the envelope or the printed receipt (picture pass).
We need to give those things to the photographer on picture day- (teachers please keep them in your envelope-)
Let me know if you have
questions-
Thanks
