The children have been busy learning all about the -k and -ck sounds this week. We continued to have the teachers pull small groups. Mrs. Sansale was doing guided reading and Miss O'Connor has been teaching the kids all about their Writing Words Books (it is similar to a mini dictionary for kids).

In Math on Monday we played the human numberline game out in the commons to reinforce our numberline math with addition as well as subtraction. It was very important that the children understood which way to walk on the numberline. The Unicorns & The Jayhawks teams tied the game.
On Tuesday & Wednesday in Math the children learned all about
switcheroos or turn around facts using dry erase boards, a song, dominoes and dice. So if 7+2=9
than 2+7=9. The sum always stays the same.

We met with our 7th Grade Buddies this week. We loved showing them our work and all around our classroom. What a special treat!
TNT (Try New Things) We filled out All About Me Poster. The kids filled out their favorite things on the front and illustrated a picture of themselves on the inside. We want to see if you can guess which one is your child......during conferences.
During Social Studies this week the children learned all about how to make the recipe of a good citizen. The kids loved learning about how to be a good citizen and making the recipe. We also started presenting our family collages. The kids really enjoyed learning about their friends.
Computer Lab: In the computer lab today, the children used a program called Kidspiration. They made a picture with things that are alike and things that are different.
Hands on Science: We learned all about surface tension, skin & cohesion. We did an experiment and tried to get a paper clip to float by tissue paper while using a pencil to press it down. The kids can't wait to show you this experiment at home this weekend.
