In social studies this week, Ms. Lorfing has continued to guide the children in their study of bears. We are wrapping up our study of black bears and we have moved on to the brown bears! The children are loving it....we are all having a blast....including the BEARS in the classroom!
Lila is working hard on her bear facts!
In TNT we had the opportunity to have some special 4-legged "community helpers" visit us! These cute pups came to visit the first grade to teach us how to approach dogs and other important dog safety tips.  These special friends are from a program called, Pets for Life.   They were supposed to come during our first theme, but ended up having to reschedule. These pets also visit schools, hospitals and nursing homes to bring happiness to those around them. Our community so great!

In Hands-On Science this week the children created SUN PRINTS! Since we will be learning about the polar bear and its black skin....we have started to wonder what would happen to a piece of black construction paper if we cut out shapes, glued them to the black paper and put them in the window????? Will the sun be attracted to the black paper?  Will the black paper fade?  How does the polar bear's dark skin help keep it warm in arctic temperatures??? So many questions....stay tuned! In a week we will take the prints down, peel off the cut out shapes and look at the prints left behind....

Ask your child about computer lab....they used their own teddy bears, took a picture on the iPad, and created their very own lesson on bears using the Puppet Pals app. They recorded one of the many facts about bears that they have learned over the past two weeks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAMPBELL! WE LOVED CELEBRATING WITH YOU!
