We are feeling the love here in first grade. We are so thankful for our class of talented and amazing children this year!

In small groups, Miss O’Connor read sight words one on one with students. It is amazing how much they have grown as readers since the beginning of the year!! We also spent time in further discussion about Hanukkah and made a Star of David. With Mrs. Sansale’s help, the children made a special Christmas gift surprise for YOU! Be sure to check under the tree on Christmas morning :) AND on Thursday, we learned about bar and picture graphs with both teachers in small groups.
Math
In math we continued studying place value, worked with our new 120s charts, and even had a special guest teacher to help us with a fun 120s lesson! Thanks Mrs. Wallace!
TNT
We made snowflakes using coffee filters to decorate our classroom! It is looking very festive here in 1S.
Social Studies
We spent the week focusing on Hanukkah. Students learned about the history and culture behind the holiday. They completed the theme notebook pages on Hanukkah, got to play fun games, and create some Hanukkah crafts! We had so much fun playing the dreidel game in honor of our study on Hanukkah!
Christmas Program! We are so proud of your children! We hope you enjoyed the Christmas Program as much as we did! A big thanks to Mrs. Haskamp for all she does! Take a look at a few of the pictures we took:
Spelling
There will be NO spelling words or test for next week. Enjoy the break from spelling and we will pick it back up again after Christmas break in January. We are so proud of the great work your children have done on all of their spelling words so far!!
