Believe it or not, we began practicing our Halloween songs in chapel this week. We hear mumblings of what the students have decided will be their Halloween costumes this year.
In Social Studies we have wrapped up our unit on Myself, Others and a Caring Community. The packets will come home at conferences. These family collages are a favorite, as you can imagine. You can hear a pin drop when a child is presenting their collage. You have all done a terrific job on the collages. Thank you. They are displayed in our classroom.
Our last speaker came to talk about being an architect in Kansas City. We welcomed Mr. Joe Jiminez to the first grade. Of course, the first grade loved the model of a building he brought to share.

Our integrated language time has been full of good information about adjectives, nouns, and verbs as well as identifying the beginning, middle and end of a story. We partner read alot during this time. At other centers this past week we have had the students listen to stories; categorize nouns, verbs and adjectives; partner read and discuss the stories; work with contractions, and being introduced to the terms characters, setting, problem, and solution. Our seventh grade buddies are the best! We love our time with them at chapel each Friday. We had such a special day today with our buddies at the first Buddy Run at St. Paul's School. It was a huge success! The weather was perfect, the kids were enthusiastic, the parents were helpful, and the activity was DYNAMITE!

Our class made their own penants with their buddy's name on one side and their name on the other side.
Stretching before the Fun!The FINISH LINE!!!!

IMath we are practicing our doubles with our song, "It's Doubles, baby." Have your child sing to practice for their upcoming doubles test.
The first Spelling test was taken today. They all did a terrific job with your help, learning their spelling words. The tests are in their yellow folders. A new spelling packet came home today.

All the Bears of the World begins next week. We invite the students to bring in a stuffed bear to school. We are thinking nothing too large. This is an informative theme. One I think the children will love!
