It was a short one, but full of great learning!!!

 Hello Parents!
Thank you all for attending last night's curriculm night.  I hope you were able to hear lots of good information that will help you learn what first grade looks like every day for your child!  If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to contact us or if you were not able to attend please let us know and we can catch you up. If you did not sign up for conferences let us know at your earliest convenience and we can share with you the times we have available.  Please send in your child's "How I Got My Name" if you have not done so yet.  Also, feel free to send in your family collage at any time.  Those are due by September 26th.  Thank you!


During hands on science we explored the difference between living and non living things.

Each child was given an object to decide if it was living or non living and then asked to add to the chart.  Once the chart was completed, students cut out pictures from magazines and glued them on the appropriate side of the paper.  They did a great job and now even know that some things can be categorized as "once living" as well.


Lots of great teamwork going on here to complete the puzzle!




In TNT (try new things) we used a parachute to play a game that allowed everyone to get the chance to give a compliment to someone in the class.  They used examples such as students showing respect, responsibility, doing their "best work" in class and helping others.  Such a great opportunity for them to share how they care for each other and build one another up and have fun!
