Reading, Reading, Reading

Mrs. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus came to hand out summer reading certificates. We recognize many students read over the summer and encourage them to write them down and turn them in next year.

One of our centers in the morning was computers.  They love their computer time in the lab and this provides them one or two more opportunities during the week to log on in the classroom.  The website we went to in computer lab this week was http://www.primarygames.com/  We went to the beginning of school section and let them play some of the word games.

Myself, Others and A Caring Community gives us opportunities to work on listing our favorite things.  We put together a class book with our important lists, we've come up with classroom expectations--an extension of classroom rules. 

We have enjoyed sharing our "How I got my Name" information with eachother.  Ms. Lorfing introduced some really cool new ways to clap for our friends who present their name reports.

We have new friends in our room...Short sticks and Chomper.  We named them!!!

Chomper is already in a chrysallis.  We think he will be a swallowtail butterfly.  We are anxious to see.  Isn't nature wonderful???  The science share table has so many neat things from our first graders.  We love them to share their finds with us.  The way they are packaged to come to school shows how much they care about their discovery item.  They come padded with enough kleenex to supply the school for a day .

Switcheroos!

 Number Line Math.  We used our bodies to demonstrate addition and subtraction equations.  I've told them many times, they are very good with fining the sum and the difference.

Mrs. Wiedeman using our new Easyteach interactive whiteboard.  We love it.  The kids wanted to change the ink color all the time, so we did!!!

Family Collage due September 26th.  The ones that have come in are incredible.  Thank you for caring enough to spend some time on these.
