We have begun our research on Famous Americans. We do the majority of the work in the classroom and re-copy it in to a report form in the classroom. As many of the parents know, the information on the internet, although we select from a search that is supposed to be at their reading level...is difficult. We sift through and skim the information. We also have books from our SPEDS library. Mr. N has pulled all the books we have on our famous people. One of the biggest lessons we have learned in our research is that the students want to put words down on paper before they have read enough about their famous person. Kudos to the adults who have taken an interest with your child in their famous American. We hear from the kids that they have additional library books, have watched videos on the computer and have had multiple conversations with their children.

In researching our Famous Americans many students have found pictures they are enjoying. This week we worked on writing the information down on our report form. Next week we will rewrite the report and slip it in to an official report cover. We will also do a portrait of our person in the report.

Scrambled sentences of the United States

The citizen reports began this week. The students have great ideas of how they can be better citizens. We heard from the students about their parent's experiences as children and young adults. They will be on our commons bulletin board for you all to read.

In Math we reviewed place value again and now we are on to money. The place value houses they brought home showed regrouping --moving from the ones to the tens.
