Australia ... here we come!!
Australia is our next theme. Students will have a research project to do on a specific assigned Australian animal. They will make a life-sized, three-dimensional replica of the animal here at school and stuff it with paper at home. They will add crafts and details to the animal and they will be shown all around our room. More information will be forthcoming about that at a later date. We are starting Australia today.
This entire week we have been rehearsing for our Hooray for the U.S.A. program so that has taken up most of our mornings during center time. We even practiced our show for Kindergarten so they could get a preview of what they will be doing next year. But, the children are learning all about the famous Americans by just listening and hearing their classmates speaking parts. After we rehearsed we worked on number scrolls.

| Happy Valentine's Day!!! |
Our Valentine's Party was so much fun! Thank you to the parent volunteers that put on such a wonderful party. We played a games such as throw the bean bag into the heart shape, pop a balloon and act out the ideas for our friends to guess, and pin the heart on the cupid. We also heard a Valentine's Day story, enjoyed a yummy cupcake treat and we got to read all of our friends Valentine's Day cards.
The Hooray for the U.S.A. program was great! A big thanks to Mr. Sims for assisting us with the piano. Your children did a fabulous job and we are sooooooooo proud of them!!! Praise them on their theme pages we they came home last week. Thank you for your enthusiastic responses to our U.S.A. projects and we hope you enjoyed the musical program. Your children all shined!!!

Hands On Science:
With Waller & Mrs. Wiedeman's Sub this week the children learned that oil and water will not mix well as their molecules will not bond. They found out they stay separate and water is more dense than oil which is why oil floats. The kids learned about oil spills and the teachers conducted an oil and water fireworks hands on experiment. Thanks to the food dye the fireworks had a real "wow" factor! Check out the cool pictures below.
