This week, as many of you know, we were able to get onto the Puppet Pals app and record the first graders as they recited their famous Americans' reports.  We had so much fun creating these and they turned out so great!  Please take a minute to pull these up from the blog we posted earlier this week.  You will be so proud of your first grader's savvy tech. knowledge!
One of our centers this week focused on handwriting.  Look at those beautiful "j"s from Sawyer!  Nice job pulling those letters from top to bottom.

Another center including classifying different objects into groups.
We continued working on money this week by showing values using coin stampers. We also reviewed place value and focused on finding numbers in the ones, tens, and hundreds.  We began double digit addition by playing a game with dominoes.  Once again, these first graders blew us away with their abilities!!

We have continued to share our famous Americans this week.  Each student shares how their paper dolls were made.  Then, the class gets to ask 3 questions and give 3 compliments.  Then, it's time to share the report.  Each child that has shared has been able to retell from memory the most important facts from their report such as place and date of birth, childhood facts, adult facts and why their famous American is famous and what they admire about him/her.  Our class has done an outstanding job with this and we couldn't be more proud!!

In hands on science we made Roto-copters and had the chance to test them out from the second story of school.  They work!!!  They will get the chance to make more at home with you this weekend!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Kathleen and Carey

For Valentine's Day we are asking the students to decorate a shoebox AT HOME for their exchange of valentines.  They can bring the box the week of Valentine's Day.  They can bring cards with their names only on the cards to give away.  Mrs. Wiedeman's /Lorfing's class has 22 students and Ms. Fate/Waller has 21 students.  During the party they can go around to each other's boxes and add valentines.
