First Full Week of School!

We are having a blast! Your children are wonderful!

We jumped right into our Language Arts centers this week. We have started with the writing center and the word work center. They have been busy reviewing rhyming words, proofreading sentences for the correct beginning and end, writing the word wall, listening to Brand New Books, Brand New Pencils with headphones, and completing short A activities for review just to name a few. Eventually, we will add the reading center and your child will visit each center weekly.  Take a look at the pictures below:

We have also been reviewing repeating patterns and have introduced growing patterns. Thursday we read Tally O'Malley by Stuart J. Murphy and we tallied many items around the room.

We have started social studies as well. On Monday we read the Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown. We talked bout ourselves and what is important about each and every one of us! Each student has filled out an important list and we will compile these into a classroom book. We are excited to share this with you. We continue our Myself, Others and a Caring Community unit over the next several weeks.

SCHOOL RULES with Scholastic News

In TNT (Try New Things) on Wednesday, we started our ALL ABOUT ME backpacks. We are learning so much about your children. They are all so unique and it is so fun to hear all about each and every one of them.

In computer lab Mrs. Waller and Ms. Lorfing took the children up to the computer lab on the third floor. This was a first for many of them. They learned how to log on using their username and password. Then they created their own repeating and growing patterns through KIDSPIRATION software.

Anxiously awaiting the final results...

In Hands-On Science Friday, Miss Fate and Mrs. Wiedeman led the students as the made ALKA-Rockets! Don't worry, no one was hurt. The students had a blast and experienced their first FIRST GRADE chemical reaction. Check it out below:

REMINDERS:

Summer Reading logs will be presented by Mrs. Watt during chapel next week to recognize those students that brought thier reading logs back.  You can still bring it back to us by Monday morning.
