LifeTouch Photos-
Sept. 18th for 1st-8th
and
Sept. 19th for ECC (Toddlers-Kindergarten)
We are using on-line ordering
for individual and class photos.
(Your child will be in the
yearbook, even if you choose not to order any of the photo reprints.)
There
are 3 ways to order. With this format there are more options, such as your
choice of backgrounds, personalizing the photos, and so on.
a) Pre-order on-line www.mylifetouch.com
b) Pre-order
using the payment envelope attached to the flyer
c) Wait until there are proof photos and order from those (this choice
has fewer options and the cost is a bit more).
o If you pre-order, there are more options and the cost
is lower. (Be sure to bring in the
pre-order PICTURE PASS-your child will need this for the photographer-homeroom
teachers will be collecting them prior to or on picture day.)
·
Please keep the LifeTouch flyer handy - it has the information that you will
need to complete the ordering process. The flyer is coming home September
5th.
·
Class photos are part of the picture
packets and your child will be featured in the center (larger) of the composite
and the rest of the class and teachers will be around the edges. These will not be printed until after make-up
day, so no one will be missing from the class photos.

We are jumping addends across the number lines in first grade. Practicing counting and tallying, the class watched as each student hopped to the frog and turtle. Then, counted the tallys they wrote on their white boards to make an addition equation: Sophie hopped 5 hops, Alex hopped 7 hops. That's 5+7=12.

Kate and Scarlett are hopping with their frog hopper on the number line to add and subtract numbers.
Medill is working on the ipad on an app called: Math Cakes. This focuses on addition and subtraction skills.
We worked on evens and odds using the hundred boards this week as well as counting by 2s, 5s and 10s.
Eva is showing she knows her evens and odds by coloring in each number with a different color.
We identified odd and even numbers by matching our cards with others who had the same even or odd numbers. Ella has a 5 so she had to find another odd number match.
Mrs. Wiedeman met with small groups and we read stories together.
Addie is showing a 10 frame. She looks at the frame and sees 2 bugs. This tells her that it takes 8 more to get to 10 so 2+8=10
Using words with pictures we put a puzzle together of opposites.
We made a September calendar this week and discussed how the first may start on different days of the week and each month may have a different amount of days in it, 28,29,30 or 31.
Ella is working hard in her theme notebook- "Myself, Others and a Caring Community". She is illustrating a picture showing her friends and what makes her laugh.
Van and Alex made flowers showing some of the ways you can make 5.
In TNT (try new things) Mrs. Wiedeman showed the class, step by step, how to illustrate Pete the cat.
Here is the great collage we did last week in hands on science sharing the difference between living and non living things.
In computer lab we have been working on the website: abcya.com. Feel free to explore this site at home with your child. It has fun, exciting age appropriate activities that incorporate all subjects we cover here in school.
Also, ask about our fun hands on science activitiy we did today! It involved celery, and food coloring.
Hmmm....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!!!
Thank you all for attending last night's curriculum night. We truly appreciate your support and look forward to a wonderful year with your sweet little angels!

Kathleen and Carey
