This week completes our theme, "Myself, Others and a Caring Community". On Monday we will begin our much anticipated theme all about BEARS! During this theme children are allowed to bring in a stuffed bear of their choice as long as it will sit on the shelf above their cubbies. Please look for the October newsletter that went home Friday for more details. Another important activity starting next week is SPELLING. A spelling packet came home on Friday as well which gives important information regarding our expectations and also includes suggestions for weekly practice at home and most importantly, our first list for next week's test!

Our focus in math this week continues to be addition and subtraction. We worked on learning our doubles. Ask your child about the doubles rap! It can be found on youtube if you search doubles math. We are working on finding missing addends and had the chance to try out 4 different apps on the ipad: Rocket Math, Math Bingo, Math Doodles, and Sticker Sudoku in Computer Lab.
In social studies we read a book called The Gigantic Turnip which shows the lifeskill of cooperation and how important teamwork can be when solving problems.
Hands On Science brought out the GOOP! It's coming home today. Check the backpacks...

Celebrating our Names was a terrific way to end the week. Although many of you will be up to your elbows in glue and glitter this weekend because they liked spelling their names in glue so much. Thank you for the cookies. Thank you for the water and napkins and plates. We loved them!!
Parents – You are welcome to join us
for chapel on Wednesday, October 3rd in the ECC Commons. Father Todd will be
giving his final chapel lesson to toddler – second grade students. The children
will also be giving him special handmade cards. Seating will be limited but
there will be standing room available in the hallway. Directly following
chapel, a parent/adult-only reception will be held upstairs in the MPR. Father
Todd has become a very special part of our school and we will miss him
tremendously!
