FEEL THE LOVE!

In Chapel we were so lucky to have the famous author Eloise Greenfield come read poems and speak to the kids.  She is such an inspiration to all of us!

This week we have had a busy week doing centers. We did some President's Day centers as well as Valentine's Day centers.  The teachers did running records reading assessments on every student.  We couldn't believe how much they have improved since the start of the year! WOW! We were so happy with their progress!

Math- We have been reviewing time as well as moving into introducing simple fractions such as: 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. We have learned about the numerator and denominator as well as equal & unequal parts.  This is a hard concept for first graders but they are doing a great job!!!

Social Studies- We read different Scholastic magazines in cooperative groups.  Each group had to read together, answer the questions together, and present their stories to the class. They did a good job working nicely together.  We also discussed the importance of the holidays: Valentine's Day & President's Day.  We did some fun activities to go along with them. We also talked about heroes & Black History since it is Black History month.  We wrote letters to Ruby Bridges.  We hope she writes us back!!!!
