Farewell to Fairy Tales

WOW.  This week has been full and fun-filled!!  This week we published our own Fairy Tales, made covers for our memory books, made a venn diagram comparing Kindergarten and 1st grade, wrote letters to the incoming 1st graders, practiced and performed our puppet shows, worked on irregular plural nouns, got ready for our Haiti fundraiser, made a special secret gift for our moms, and much much more. Phew! It has been a whirlwind!  Sadly, our memory card broke, and we lost many of our photos.  However, we still have a few gems :)  Take a look!

This project is a surprise for our moms- shhh!

After all your children's hard work- we had to celebrate!  The students dressed up as their favorite fairy tale character, we had treats, and watched part of Frozen.  We loved hearing the students sing along to all of the songs!

In hands-on-science, we learned all about mixtures and solutions.  Guess what is an example of a solution... lemonade!  The children explored the difference between mixtures and solutions using trail mix and lemonade.  Then we got to enjoy our experiment :)

In computer lab, we went to abcya.com and learned some new graphing skills.  Then we revisited braingle.com- it is quickly becoming a class favorite!

Reminders:

Next week is the 4th annual book swap for 1st - 4th graders. Students who wish to participate may bring in their gently used books.  They will receive a ticket for each book brought in up to 5 books. 
On Friday afternoon, May 8th, each class will browse the book collection and students can refresh their reading stash before summer vacation begins!   Students should bring books that are on or above their grade level to ensure that all students are happy with their new reading selection.
