All you need is love!

We have had such a full and busy week in first grade! We learned about Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, Black History Month, President's Day, AND Valentine's Day in addition to learning about time, chemical reactions, and more!! We are so proud of how hard these kids work!

In math this week we continued learning about time. Our focus is time on the hour, but we're also learning how to tell time to the quarter hour and half hour.

Time bingo! We did this after we practiced with our small clocks.
Mrs. Sansale's class made a giant clock in the commons. The kids each wrote a time on a paper, balled it up, and threw it toward the center to be chosen at random. Then we made that time on our clock!

Ms. Lorfing's class made a graph with their Flat Stanleys. They've been reading Flat Stanley's Original Adventure.
In hands-on science this week we continued our discovery of chemical reactions. We used Alka-Seltzer tablets, conversation hearts, and sparkling water to observe the reaction of the tablets and candy hearts with the water.

We learned about the history of Valentine's Day and the history of President's Day in social studies this week. Ms. Lorfing's class also heard the rest of their famous American reports.

We worked on colorful Valentine surprises for parents in TNT this week!

Happy Valentine's Day!!
