G'DAY MATE!

We have started learning all about AUSTRALIA this week! We've had a fun and busy week in our new theme. 
Here's what we've been up to...

Language Arts
We began Tuesday by introducing and starting all the new centers for the week. Activities centered around our spelling words with -sh and -ch, Australia, and much more.  In guided groups, we read animal books and began research on our Australian animals.

Math: We have been continuing on working on time.  It is a very hard concept to grasp. Ms. Lorfing's Class built the times in the common with a yardstick & broomstick for the hands & Mrs. Sansale's Class played a partner time game matching the digital time with the analog time.
 




Social Studies:  We started AUSTRALIA!  We read a book about the geography, climate, animals and habitats of Australia.  We started in our theme pages.  We also learned all about Kangaroos!


TNT: Earlier in the week we had the BIG REVEAL of our Australian animals & watched our Hooray for the USA program on DVD. It was so fun to see all of the Famous Americans!  We have begun research, and we will paint them next Monday in class.

SUPER HERO DAY! SHOW YOUR SCHOOL SPIRIT & BRING IN ITEMS FOR THE PANTRY!



Hands-on-Science: We had Elizabeth Duncan (Ella's mom) come in and teach a science lesson for the kids.  They are dissecting worms and monitoring their regeneration over the next few weeks.  It was such a special treat to have her visit!!!! Thank you so much for coming & spending your morning with us!!!










Computer Lab:  We went on learninggamesforkids.com and played Australia & USA Geography games.

Fri. Feb. 26th- Final Day to show your St. Paul's Spirit!


*Paint day on Monday- have your child wear not so nice clothing please!  Parent volunteers that signed up to paint please be ready to start by 9:15am. Thanks!
*Australian animals will come home next week to stuff, staple and decorate with craft materials.  
*Scholastic Book online ordering the last day to order is: Friday, February 26th.  
*Parent/teacher conferences.... NO SCHOOL on Thursday 3/3 and Friday 3/4.  Please send in the conference questionnaire if you have not already.
