We are having a ball learning about so many different fairy tales and folktales! This week our spelling focused on the phonograms -ow, -own, and -oat, we practiced writing letters, putting stories in sequential order, alphabetizing, and so much more! Check out our

| Mr. Ronan's skill group this week focused on letter writing and making mailboxes! Each student assumed the identity of a fairy tale character and then he/she wrote to another storybook character! The mailboxes sit above cubbies. |
In
math this week we continued to learn about measurement. We started using rulers to get a precise measurement of length up to whole numbers. We also worked with color tile manipulatives to see how many inches are in a foot. During this exercise, we used different colors to see how many different combinations of numbers add up to 12!

In
social studies this week Mrs. Sansale's class worked on book banners. Your children are so creative!! The banners look incredible! Ms. Lorfing's class collaborated on story maps. They did an awesome job working together!
In
TNT we all met together to decide on the slogan for our Haiti lemonade stand. The kids came up with some really catchy jingles, and then we voted. The winner is:
Lemonade and Cookie Stand, Give Haiti a Helping Hand! We're so excited to do this fundraiser! It's sure to be a success and will raise funds for much-needed supplies for the Holy Cross School in Ravine à l'Anse.
In
hands-on science this week we explored the differences between baby animals and adult animals, inspired by our trip to the zoo!
During
computer lab time we used iPads to practice our state skills on Stack the States, practice math strategies on Math Doodles, and create fairy tales on Story Kit.
We had a wonderful time at the
KC Zoo!! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who helped make the day a success!
