WE HAVE ARRIVED in The Land Down Under!

We have officially arrived in the land of the kangaroos, koalas, emus, wallabies and many more! We are having a blast as we begin our Australian unit and the preparations for our International Festival.

Our language arts block has been fun this week as Mrs. Waller wraps up reading assessments and Miss Fate continues reading and working in the phonics book. Your children have been hard at work this week. Take a look at the pictures below:

In social studies, Miss Fate introduced Australia and presented each child with their Australian animals. They are all so excited! Mr. Ronan was a sub on Tuesday and was able to share his experiences from his trip to Australia. Maybe we will all get there some day!

In math, Miss Fate introduced fractions which is something we introduce as we teach time. Mr. Ronan (Mrs.Waller's sub) began our Flat Stanley graphing activity. While reading one of the Flat Stanley books the students create their very own FLAT SELVES! We will use our FLAT SELVES to complete a variety of graphing activities. We will continue to review time, fractions, graphing, money and many other concepts until the end of the school year. At this point in first grade we like to see the students developing a strong sense of numbers.
