G'Day Mates!!!

IT'S "SNOW" SECRET WE ARE READY TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL.....During this short week we are busy learning more about Australia.  We have been busy catching up from our snow days from last week & this week.
Playing in the snow in our snow boots....this is so much fun!!!

We had so much energy we had to move around and sing some Australia songs....it started to look like the First Grade Harlem Shake. Ha!
You do the boom, boom, boom boom, boom....you do the boomerang!
Our Kangaroos we made with fun Kangaroo facts on them.

The children got a sneak peek of what it will be like in third grade when they get to create their own rain forest animal.  We were lucky enough to go visit the rain forest and the third graders told us all about their animals.  We were their first tour so it was good practice for the third graders.

cousins in the rain forest....:)

In math this week we are continuing to learn about time, fractions & graphing.  All three of these concepts are difficult for first graders to grasp.  We will continue learning about them for the rest of the year.

draw a time card, make the time on your clock & then record the time & draw the time on a clock
During Social Studies the kids learned about Australia, the climate, Aboriginal Flag fun facts & even started learning about the states & the territories of Australia.  We also learned all about Kangaroos, Koalas, & Australia.  Ask your kids to tell you some facts.  I am sure they all can do it.

In Hands on Science this week we painted our Australian animals with the help of our parent volunteers.  Thank you!! Thank you!! Wait until you see them!!!! If they are dry today we will send them home with a note that explains what the kids need to do at home with your assistance.  We also played educational games on the iPads as we waited for our turn to paint.
