Brrrr.... What a chilly week we've had! It didn't seem to slow these first graders down though! Our field trip to the Discovery Center was a wonderful adventure filled with learning everything from bears to birds and more.

We also learned about other animals that inhabit our area and got a chance to touch them.
Scaly soft skin on the snake!
We saw several different signs that spring has sprung. This picture says spring is here for sure. See if you can spy it. Hint...Ribbit!
In integrated language we worked on our letter writing skills by writing letters to our fairy tale characters from other fairy tale characters. Then we placed them in their mailboxes and put the flag up to say, "You've got mail!"
At the listening center we read, a fairytale called "Seven Silly Eaters". We learned this week that fairy tales are known to have things that come in 7s.
We made an earth day poster to share our love for the earth!
Another highlight of the week was working on our book banners! Thanks so much for sending in so many wonderful crafts! The class had so much fun designing and creating these wonderful masterpieces showing off their fairy tales! Please take time to stop by and look at these in the classroom. They are amazing!
"Snow White", "Princess and the Pea", "Sleeping Beauty" and "The Frog Prince"
"Jack and the Beanstalk"
"Thumbelina", "Tom Thumb" and "Hansel and Gretel"
In math we continue to review time. We made these cute fraction animal pictures. Come by and take a look at a "fraction" of what your child has learned this year!
During math we played a game called Vacation to review time telling. It also helped us learn how to spell the word vacation and it got us thinking about...summer!
Telling time experts!
In honor of World Culture Night, the 8th graders paraded through our room and shared which country they were representing. Our first graders thought it was so cool to see the big kids all dressed up and said they can't wait till they get to do it. You as parents can wait, I'm sure!!
Brotherly LOVE!!
HANDS ON SCIENCE:
In 2 weeks we will be doing a lesson about the constellations and we are asking in preparation for it we would like to ask for each child to bring in one empty cereal box. Size, color, brand do not matter. Thanks so much again for your support!
