No Tricks, Your Children are a Treat!

 

We started off our fun-filled week with a field-trip to the Folly Theater.  Most of the students had never been before, and the play, Curious George, was great!

After the field trip, we had a special treat for Mr. Myler's 40th birthday.  Rockin' Rob came in and sang sing-a-long songs with us during lunch!  Thanks to our wonderful Parents' Guild for bringing in cupcakes for the whole school to help celebrate. 

In Math, we began working with fact families!  Look at all the fun ways we were able to practice them!

In Social Studies, we have continued working on our Bear theme.  We did a Venn Diagram comparing humans to bears. 

They came up with LOTS of similarities and differences!  We almost ran out of room!

The students also worked on A-Z Bear Posters- look at how many bear words we've learned:

After missing a week of centers, we were excited to jump back in this week during Language Arts!  Take a look at the pictures below:

In guided reading with Mrs. Sansale, the children read Halloween books and learned about book in a bag.  They are so excited to get started! 

With Miss O'Connor, the students learned about contractions.  They performed word surgeries to make two words into one shorter word.  I see a lot of future surgeons in our class! Afterwards, we practiced our new skill with pages in our phonics book.

Reminders:

• We will be celebrating the end of our Bear Theme with a picnic during lunch next Friday, November 7th.  Please have your child bring a sack lunch and drink.
• The St. Paul's Book Fair is next week!  Our class will be going Thursday, November 6th from 2:35-3:15pm
• Don't forget to encourage your children to read each night and bring in their read-a-thon pages!
