THE PLANE IS TAKING OFF....

Well, we jumped right in after break! It has been a great week. Everyone enjoyed the spring reprieve from school; however, we were all so happy to see each other again on Tuesday morning.

Take a look at the pictures below from our language arts block this week as we continue to meet in our guided reading groups and finish up our Australian animal stories:
Reading a book on the coral reef and answering comprehension questions all on their own!

Australian animal ABC order!

Hard at work on their Australian stories!

Guided Reading continues....
Boomerang Spelling!

Maddie matches the amount on the clothespin to the correct amount of change shown on the game board!

Griffin is writing a Kangaroo story using words given to him in a word bank.

Lila's Australian fact and an illustration of that fact.

In math this week the students have been introduced to measurement; they learned about the difference between non-standard and standard measurement. They got to trace their very own shoes and cut them out to use as a form of non-standard measurement.
Tracing our shoes to use as a form of non-standard measurement!

....more pictures of measurement to come next week!
In social studies we finished up our Australian animal presentations. The children have done such a great job sharing their reports. They are becoming quite the presenters!  To extend our Australian studies, during TNT on Wednesday Mrs. Trainor, mom of Sophie in second grade, joined us to share her first hand knowledge of Australia. She and her husband are both from Australia. It was such a great presentation. The children were so engaged and enjoyed it thoroughly. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Some successful presenters!

Mrs. Trainor's visit:
Australia is about the same size as the U.S.A.!

Australia's national flag!

Australia's national emblem!

Story Teller
We were lucky enough to have a fabulous story teller, Bill Gordh, visit us this week. He shared his amazing talents with our students. The ECC faculty also benefited from Bill as well, on Monday, as he delivered a fabulous in-service.
