FIRST GRADE IS "BEARY" AWESOME!
It has been a short week, but
we remain very busy! We continue our study of bears and we are learning
so much. Can you believe we are already 1/4th of the way through 1st grade?? We can't!
We have been focusing on short "i" this week. On Wednesday, we quickly explained centers, and then the kids jumped right in on a 9 tic-tac-toe board! They did a fantastic job. Here is what we've been working on this week:
Mrs. Sansale, Ms. Lorfing and Miss Ahrens all worked with small groups and individuals on their spooky Halloween stories! We can't wait for you to read them during conferences! Mr. Ronan has been busy teaching all about: nouns, verbs, adjectives.
In math this week we are reviewing all of our concepts to get ready for our math assessment next week. We learned a skip counting song to practice counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's, we reviewed missing addends and practiced writing in a blank 100's chart.

During Social Studies this week we introduced our new theme Bears. Ms. Lorfing's class did a KWL bear chart and Mrs. Sansale's class sang some bear songs & practiced drawing bears. All in all the kids are really excited about Bears. Both classes introduced the Black Bear & learned about bear characteristics and attributes. Theme activity we learned all about Christopher Columbus.

- The Halloween Ball is Coming!Date: Wednesday – October 28th, 2015
Time: 9:00 – 10:00 AMLocation: Parish Hall – 1st Floor in ChurchToddler through second grade students will celebrate Halloween at school by singing songs, dancing and parading in costume by grade level. The Halloween Ball has been a part of our school for many years and is a highlight of the St. Paul’s experience. While this is an event designed for the students, parents and special friends are always welcome to join us. Space may be limited, and if you can’t join us, we will take lots of pictures you can enjoy on the blogs.Children may arrive in their costume, please no masks or accessories that represent a weapon. Many children will want to take off their costume following the Ball so send an extra change of clothes, or have your children where regular clothes under their costumes. It will be lots of fun!!!!
Hello! I have posted on my blog a reminder about what students need to wear for the 1st grade program next week. This way, a parent can reference it if they have lost or misplaced their paper that was sent home. Would you please post this link on any electronic communication you have with parent over the next couple of days? I am going to be doing this before each program to give parents another opportunity to see this information. Thanks so much!
